CGA Statement: FERC Approves MISO's ERAS 2.0 Proposal
CGA issued the following statement from Executive Director Beth Soholt after FERC approved MISO's Expedited Resource Addition Study (ERAS) 2.0 proposal:
"Clean Grid Alliance (CGA) is deeply disappointed by FERC's approval of MISO's Expedited Resource Addition Study (ERAS) 2.0 proposal. ERAS undermines the fundamental principles of open access and competitive electricity markets. The new rules will simply allocate scarce backbone transmission capacity until more can be built, which favors incumbent utilities at the expense of consumers and independent power producers (IPPs). Finally, ERAS does nothing to address fundamental issues of generator interconnection queue delays and supply chain challenges.
"It will be critical for MISO to provide detailed guidance on the extent to which IPPs can access the 50 slots allocated for LSE use. CGA will be working closely with states as they craft their ERAS load and need verification processes."
